How to Update Claims Using an ERA File

Managing your claims efficiently is crucial for maintaining smooth operations at your healthcare practice. By utilizing an ERA (Electronic Remittance Advice) file from your clearing house, you can easily update claims, ensuring accurate billing and payment details are recorded. This process not only streamlines administrative tasks but also reduces potential errors associated with manual input.

Uploading the ERA File

The first step in updating claims with an ERA file is to upload it onto the Noterro platform. Here’s how:

1. Click Billing in the left header.
2. Click ERA Upload in the bottom left sidebar.
3. Click ERA Upload.
4. Select the ERA file from your computer.
5. Once the file is selected, a summary of the claims to be updated will be displayed.

Reviewing the Claim Summary

After uploading the ERA file, you will see the summary details:

• Number of Claims: Identify the number of claims that will be updated.
• Payment Information: Review the clinic's payment and the total patient responsibility.
• Additional Information: Note details such as the payment method, which will be a check, and the trace number—these are valuable for searching within the payment workflow in Noterro.

Evaluating Individual Claims

After uploading the ERA file, you will see a summary of key details: the number of claims that will be updated, the clinic payment amount and total patient responsibility, and additional information such as the payment method—typically a check—and the trace number, which can be helpful when searching within the payment workflow in Noterro.

Connecting ERA with Claims

Once EOBs have been added:

1. Navigate to the Submitted tab to verify that the ERA is connected to the claims.
2. By clicking into a claim, confirm that the ERA information has successfully transferred over.
